An excellent dry white with character from a once almost extinct grape variety, garnacha blanca (grenache blanc in France) - the red variety is better known - but a distinctly odd label!

LA MALDITA. Translates a number of ways: a sore, a swelling, an insect bite, a tongue (as in a sharp tongue - the meaning here possibly?), a curse, "damn!" or "damn it!" - again here too, possibly, wicked or accursed.

Does the pic on the label stand for the headache the next morning? ;-)

Well I've had a few bottles these past few years, Rosa and it has never disappointed. And not bad value either. About 6€ (say £5.50). I usually spend less but if I'm entertaining and want to be sure of the quality I sometimes go for this for its reliability.

I'm not a great wine fan..............but the artwork on that label is awesome. A great find and well taken Andy!

I like both real ale and good wine. But as a diabetic I have to exercise moderation. So I stick to brandy and and rum instead.

That is a very strange wine label I must admit. I do sometimes find that some wines do make my mouth purse up and leave my mouth completely dry - maybe this is one of those wines!!

Maybe not, it's a nicely rounded and mellow kind of wine but definitely dry and perfect with fish.

Doesn't seem to be the best marketing!

I've seen "maldita" used in Mexican Spanish as a mild negative descriptor, kind of like "darned;" e.g., "stupid darkness" translated as "maldita oscuridad."

I give translations in my notes Steve!
And if it catches the eye, the marketing people will say they are 99% there!
