Valdemanco from the ridge

Valdemanco from the ridge
La Sierra de Guadarrama, from the western end of La Sierra de La Cabrera from near La Torre de Valdemanco and looking over the town of that name and the Bustarviejo Valley with La Cuerda Larga (including Bolo del Mundo) and Mondalindo the two mountains left and right respectively. I don't think I've been up here since this shot was taken 7 years ago. It needs a re-visit!

The trick, Rosa is to find a way straight up from the village or as cloe to straight up as is possible, and safe!

Wow that is some view. I see it was still cold enough for the snow to remain at the top of the mountains. How long does it take you to get all the way up there?

Thanks Jenny! It all depends (of course) I think I approached it in the middle of the day after walking in other areas first but I have done it direct and, I reckon an hour, discounting stops for photos!

An amazing landscape and perspective. Worth a second visit, no doubt; and a second shot, necessarily!
Beautiful, really.

Thank you, Eric! I always pass within 0.25 km, either side, and should re-visit this little peak. The reason I don't is because it is much lower than the high points of Canchos Largo and Gordo and I have to descend from here quite some away before regaining the tracks to those other peaks that lie closer to the main routes in the Sierra. But I did come here a lot in the year before March 2012 when I came to this Sierra twice a week and really got to know every rock!
What I'm saying is that a visit here knocks out much else of any intended trip!
Another factor is that I was a far more confident rock-hopper back then. A bout of illness (and medicinal side effects) has made me less certain about my sense of balance these days.
