granite, lavender, cistus and the dusty path

granite, lavender, cistus and the dusty path
The path was treacherous even with good boots. So sandy and with loose gravel mixed in; very difficult to get any kind of purchase, but you expect that with dry weather and you learn to cope with experience. I actually find scrambling in among the rocks and boulders far easier and more satisfying!

Gudrun, Fred Fouarge, Rosalyn Hilborne, Jenny McIntyre and 15 other people have particularly liked this photo

I've been pasting a few since Saturday, my only day in the mountains this spring ... and for once I timed it right! I know you had your show way back in January or some such, Isabel but it does seem to be quite a lot later here; I presume there is less moderating influence from the Atlantic so winter lasts longer and spring is that much later!

And we are more South and with less altitude, these must be the reason too...

A lively and thriving cascade! A very attractive composition, with those stone blocks at the top. This makes me wonder why any gardener with these plants ever waters them. For all I know you haul water up there yourself. I don't put anything past you, or mountain goats, for that matter.

Deep tap roots is the answer, Diane. They can seek out any residual moisture from any previous wet spell.
