Just look at the copper tones in the rocks - there again there are lots of copper streaks in the west country.

I actually think that much of the orange colour is from lichen. It is true to say, though that the granite near here (as well as more famously at the Côte du Granit Rose in Brittany) is naturally coloured pink (although not at this exact spot).

Thank you Roger! It's the pink-ish colour that gets me - it's exacrly the same as on Brittany's more famous Côte du Granit Rose.
(but ours are more impressive in scale! I now sit back and wait for some Breton reaction - friendly I'm sure!... ...!)
