A superb composition, but the real star is the landscape itself. A place to sit and contemplate for hours!

Thank you, Diana!
I would have liked to but I was in the middle of a long-ish trek following an old guide book and didn't know what, if any, obstacles lay ahead. As I had the time of the last bus back to Madrid to keep uppermost in my mind, I couldn't dawdle! It's much the same when I occasionally (that word again!) go with a hiking group. I enjoy it but I can't veer off and do some exploring of my own, stop to admire the view as long as I might wish and, importantly, can't keep stopping and starting to take photos! I enjoy the company but in many ways prefer to do my own thing!

Ugh, I know exactly what you mean! I really can't stand group travel. I got lost in the Vatican and the group was panicked about it. But, I had more fun that way! They just marched ahead like it was a military campaign.

Oooh, I love lone trees..............and this one is quite lovely!

I like the composition here Andy...........especially the diagonal of the rock. The tree is perfectly placed in the frame. Nice one Sir!

Glad you, and others, like it, Keith. I hesitated to post it due to seeming lack of interest in the subject matter, but I have come to realise that lone trees in inhospitable habitats seem to inspire many people!

It might not be steep but it still looks a tad trecherous.

It's actually a doddle! And it's criss-crossed by many pleasing ledges such as this!

Trees do grow and survive in the most unlikely places! It balances the composition nicely .

An impressive landscape, Andy. I reckon I might manage that one myself. :-)

It looks manageable going up, going down I would have problems;-)

Many thanks, Gudrun.
I agree that it would be trickier going down (as is often the case in the mountains), However I didn't have to because my path continued along a ridge and eventually down to the palace / monastery.
