The Roman road passes by here at some point but it is lost under fields and woodland. Its path can be surmised from the air though.

This is a pretty view and I would have the urge to climb to the top! :)

Thanks Janet!
I used to climb it and it is fun, but it does include a tricky severe-level scramble up a steep granite slope near the top and after recent medication occasionally has for me the side-effect of losing my balance, I haven't been up there lately! I thought I had posted a photo of that slope but I haven't. I will post it later today and attach it here as well.
As promised, if a couple of days late! www.ipernity.com/doc/2247598/47970358

Like Janet, I would once have wanted to climb up there. Now I'd rather just stand and admire the lovely view from the bottom.

If you look carefully at this picture, you can almost surmise the route of the road up the slope. Like you Andy, I can't even consider walking up there, my loss of balance prevents me from even walking any distance. So it's lovely seeing these views through other peoples' eyes

This is the bit near the top that you have to get past somehow. And it is actually easier than trying to go round either side of it. I haven't been round the sides to check; my guidebook advised against these other routes as they were very deceptive in places and even more exposed than this slab! But the angle of the slab does actually mean that I could, at a pinch, walk up it without using my hands! I know this looks unlikely but it is so!!
Cheers, Jenny!
