La Cabrera town and the Plain of Castilla from the Ridge. (There are some famous rock climbs around here, with some great names such as 'Schizophrenia'!)
The southern half of the great plain of Castilla, Castilla La Nueva, starts at the foot of these cliffs of the Sierra de La Cabrera.
In fact the centre of Spain, this plain or 'meseta' is a tableland (as the Spanish name implies) or plateau and relatively high, between 800 and 1,000 feet. The mountain ranges that bisect it such as here are therfore higher than they seem. For example, Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Britain seems much higher than the Sierra de La Cabrera as it rises straight up from sea level at 1,345 m or 4,413 feet. El Cancho Largo, the highest point along this ridge here is 1,563 m or 5,127 feet and doesn't seem anywhere near as high as Ben Nevis.
Nonetheless, the large village (or small town) of La Cabrera looks tiny from here and the views are spectacular; on a clear day much of Madrid can be seen.
