El Escorial and Abantos from the Roman road

El Escorial and Abantos from the Roman road
San Lorenzo de El Escorial, some way off but still impressive, against the backdrop of Mount Abantos. The best preserved stretch of the Roman Road is at this point.

To think this road has been there since Roman times is quite incredible!

Very nice indeed mate. I love the way the stones have been worn smooth over generations. If they could talk.........................

One day, over a few jars, Keith, I might just let you know what they told me!

Wat die arme drommels van Romeinen toch slechte wegen hadden,,,daar kon geen wagen goed op rijden---een wals was nodig

Thank you Fred. The road here is on a steep slope and the rain sometimes pours down here. Floods would have dislodged the stones over the centuries as well as humans digging up some of the stones for their own use.
