Looking west from about halfway along the ridge. Mushroom Rock is just behind me.

That is rugged country. Reminds me of parts of the American southwest.

That's why early b/w Spanish made 'Westerns' (yes, they did make them in the 20s) were filmed in this mountain chain!

As I've said before, no wonder the conquistadores felt right at home in the Southwest!

A beautiful rocky landscape under a lovely blue sky........complete with fluffy clouds. Nice job Andy.

Is it just me, or does the shadow of the large rock in the foreground seem at odds with it's shape?

It's just you, Keith.

This looks a pretty interesting region Andy. I see its in the dead centre of Spain and so I imagine pretty dry, but it still looks green.

Well done, Herb

Andy Rodker club has replied to Herb Riddle club
Thank you Herb. Yes it's my walking country. This year has been wet so far. Much needed after drought conditions. That's why it looks green - but of course Spring is the greenest time of year here as everywhere.
Best wishes.

That, and its proximity to where I live (Madrid), makes it ideal walking and scrambling county!

I wonder what they thought of the Yucatan Peninsula then!

slgwv club has replied to Andy Rodker club
Probably they thought it looked like the Indies! ;)

Andy Rodker club has replied to slgwv club
I wonder how many who set sail had actually seen the Indies. It's possible, but can only have been a tiny handful!
slgwv club has replied to Andy Rodker club
Yeah, I imagine few indeed had actually _seen_ the Indies. But they surely imagined them as wildly different--and an exotic new landscape could fit their imaginings! (To paraphrase Dorothy, you're not in Spain any more!)

Perfect light incidence to behold those rocks! The one on the foreground seems to be upside down, in a precarious balance.
