Thank you very much Bea. I was worried that the church tower was too central on the skyline!

Nice memories for me Andy. I stayed here for a long weekend in 1968 with my then boyfriends parents who had a guest house in Chapel Street. Had a look a few years ago and it is now just a private house. Have a good weekend, Rosa.

Thank you, Rosa!
Chapel Street had the world's worst curry house, now thankfully gone. But my sister's Spanish husband LOVED it (and they loved him because he spent lots!). It also has one of my favourite Cornish pubs, The Turk's Head.
Glad it brought back happy memories!
I must confess that when I first read your comment, I stopped at the word boyfriends (you missed an apostrophe) and my landline rang just then so I was on the phone trying out my perfect Spanglish and at the same time trying to picture you and your boyfriends!!!!

Ha ha....just one at a time Andy! Sorry about the lack of apostrophe...could get me into trouble :))

But...where are the pirates? That is all I know of Penzance. I like the dim and stormy-looking light in his shot

Hi Diane. I remember being in the orchestra for a school production of The Pirates of Penzance. It seemed to have nothing to do with Penzance then and even less now!

I think every high school here did Pirates of Penzance way back when. I have no idea what Penzance is like and never saw the play, so...I will remain clueless!

Well, I am biased as my Gran lived here for many years and I always enjoyed visiting. Some great pubs and interesting shops and quaint back streets, but also bone-grinding poverty and even now, it has one of the highest unemployment rates in the UK.
It has survived, alongside the rest of Cornwall, only with staggering amounts of European Union handouts. It has almost 0% immigration.
And yet.
And yet.
It voted overwhelmingly for Brexit.
Go figure.

Hi Andy,

Nice interpretation of typical miserable British weather. I remember taking a boat trip from here a couple of years ago to observe sealife..

Best Wishes
Peter

I also took a boat to watch a girl swimming and playing with mermaids (sorry, I meant dolphins, of which there are many in Mount's Bay). The girl had been the chief bridesmaid at my cousin's wedding! She was a popular tourist attraction and it was a good summer job for her.
As you know, Peter, we don't get climate, we get weather, and it makes for more interesting photos! Better than the constant blue skies of Spain (which I adored when I first came over here but they soon began to pall!).

Have a good week!
Thank you and best wishes,
Andy
