May Evening Rose

As the sun fell softly asleep,
She whispered silk in my ear,
'I know your desire,
the sleeper in your heart,
that dreams of my soft petals,
lies drunken under my scent'
I argued, gently, that the light
on her green mantle
had enchanted my eye.
But no choice was given,
I slowly knelt and kissed the rose.
Bliss on a May evening.

... and the joy is mutual at your visit, always, dear Esther.

The poem ... what can I say ... I looked out of my window and saw the sunlight on this rose leaf ... got my camera and took the picture ... wrote the words, well, they sort of write themselves really. There are echoes of the soul story in there, something of the 'belle dame' ... stuff that sloshes around somewhere in my psyche.

Come back again. Come back often, kisses, Dave

and here's another piece I wrote as a comment elsewhere recently, that I rather like:

She said, 'Come here when your soul needs to breathe'. Bidden, I went. All that had been locked up was released. The mirror crack'd, sunlight entered. I breathed. I walked once more in the morning meadows of my childhood until I came to a still place in the afternoon, breathing gently. The grass flowers caught the golden sun and the insects sang an old song.
