Icelandic beach I

Almost all our beaches have black volcanic sand. And there is usually no bathing or sunbathing there.

We have one man made beach in Reykjavík with white sand, it was especially made for bathing in the sea and for sunbathing... so when the weather here is nice it is usually filled with people :o)

Ah, but I prefer a beach with fewer people! This one looks so tranquil :-) The nearest beach to us (on the Welsh coast) does have sand but also a lot of large stones and boulders. I broke a toe there one year!! :-( And it is always crowded. So though I know the "other man's grass is always greener" I also appreciate the less obvious attractions of your photo!! ... :-)

Lovely picture, Begga! :-D

Thank you Nigel... I secretly like this one very much myself ;o) I love taking a stroll along such long and empty beaches... reminds me of my childhood home :o)

So sorry for your toe! I'm just imagining the scene on the beach... am I a really bad person if I chuckle a little bit...? :D

Bad Begga!!! ;-) Only joking! Actually the water had been so cold that I didn't realise what I had done until my foot warmed up! Then I knew!!! :-(

Takk Sigrún, tókst að ná einni án þess að túristarnir væru að flækjast í flæðarmálinu ;o)

Yes it is beautiful... but just imagine, if we had the same heat and sun as you do how hot it would get! :o)

Great to imagine lying on the beach with a cocktail or a grog (;O)),wearing a skarf and doing some whale watching !! Is this possible (whale watching)?

Pixie pro replies:
LOL yes, in a deck chair with a scarf and grog... sounds good! But I don't think you would see any whales there... they are much further out to sea :o)

... unless you drink enough grog... then you might start seeing whales... and polar bears... and all kind of things :D

Why would anyone prefer a white beach.? I think black pebble beaches are fine, too.

Oh... your icelandic beach scenery looks a bit icy ;-) Although it's a nice beach - clear water, clean and wide.

Yes, black sand and iceblue water... but as you say, clean and wide! Thank you Sandra :o)
