Special Collections at the University of Iowa Main Libraries is currently located in the basement..which could be under several feet of water soon. Noah & I spent the morning helping move books from the basement to the 5th floor.

wow! I hope you guys get everything out of there. It would really suck to lose those books, whatever they are.

I really hate floods. I have lost so much and I am just one insignificant person. A whole section of a library... That would just be devastating!

Sadly, everyone has been forced (by higher up powers) to abandon this effort. What got moved got moved and what remains (which is a LOT) is now just left to chance.

It's a beautiful day here today, and they're literally turning away volunteers at the Library now. It seems a crime to me, this possible loss of unique beautiful books.

I hoe everything stayed dry.

How are things in IA City?

In Waverly, it was a mess. Jeannette's parents' house had water up to the ceiling of the basement, and her sister's house was completely written off by the insurance company. Not fun. On a good note, at least they closed their restaurant a few months ago, so they didn't have to lose that too.
