Kroger superstore, Gassaway, WV

Kroger superstore, Gassaway, WV
How crazy am I? Like a complete fool, I decide to go 60 miles out of my way just so that I can document the last Kroger superstore in West Virginia I know of still in operation with original exterior signs.

Unfortunately, it turned out that the original rectangular "Kroger" sign had in fact been replaced at some point in the last two years...the same time at which the top stripe of the building had been painted blue, no doubt. Even so, it's still a decently-preserved piece of 1970s grocery history on the outside, and the glorious hexagonal "Prescriptions"/"Bakery"/"Delicatessen" signs remain intact to this day.

This turned out to be an unusual shot, as the camera auto-focused upon the water droplets on the car window rather than on the background elements. The result is rather interesting, to say the least...
