okay, I just checked it. I was wrong. Bees just cant see the red areas of the spectrum of visible light but therefor they can see ultraviolett light. And the do receive light in a polarized way so they can tell the cardinal direction from the position of the sun during the day. (thx to wikipedia.:-)

I love that kind of thing. I believe it but always wonder how they find out - maybe conduct an interview with a wise bee? fit him with some special glasses to see his viewing techniques? ;D
yeah, that I wonder too. but I guess - since humans are completely incapable regarding the languages of insects or other animals - they do it by testing the reactions of the bees when exposed to different visual stimulations... but thats just a wild guess. but maybee there are special glasses involved ;-)

I like the idear (thinking about pointy spock-ears) but I won't bee the one who fixes them on their tiny heads! I don't like to get stung. ;-)
