This album presents pictures shot blindly "from the hip". I often practice this technique to take pictures very discreetly in public places. Taking pictures this way is a tremendously intense exercise in looking.
I also practice this sometime. I need to do it more. Thank you for the inspiration. Most of my ”from-the-hip-shots” are carefully aimed. But not all. Sometimes I just let the camera ”run” on motor-drive an shoot like ten-twenty frames in a row!! :-) Here are some of mine taken in this fashion!
Yes, I work in a similar way: All these pictures (up to now in this album) were shot using an old Nikon Coolpix 995, and hitting the right moment and focus point is a tricky business with this camera - especially in IYVF mode. So, I always shoot bursts of three (that's all this camera can do with a frame rate of 3 pics per 2 seconds).
I'm currently looking for an alternative camera for these kinds of shots. It must be capable of a short shutter lag time, be able to shoot series of at least three pictures at a frame rate of equal or better than 2 pics/sec, and ideally ought to be able to produce RAW image files for better processing. Plus, it must be a point-and-shoot type of camera, because any DSLR would be far too noisy for this type of photography.

Suggestions, anyone?
