The Amtman.... :o)

Oh my - you should have seen my face when I asked Bragi what his dream had been.... an what?!? Amtman he said with a very calm and straight forward face!!! :o) :o)

Well - I did not want´ to bail out of any of the shooting so I found out what it was and this is the outcome. We managed to get Minjasafnið on Akureyri (a museum of history) to lend us the set up and got the costume hired WITH the exception of the hat which is an original Amt mans hat which the last Amt-guy in Iceland owned...

Bragi is a great person and we had a great fun making this picture which looks great huge IMHO of course LOL.... He is a brother of my fathers best friend, Húnni, which is amongst my favorite persons in this world!!!

very interesting portrait, I am sure there is a story behind it...Love the clock, I collected clocks for a long time. Great portraits on the wall, and the kerosene lantern is very awesome...hmmm what else...well, just everything...

Nice story to share and of course, an excellent rendition of the idea of depicting people this way. I wasn't aware that you had German words in your language...? "Amtmann"? Sounds perfectly like a German word to me. Anyway - nice story and pic :-)

Ragnheidurpro replies:
Thank you so much renovatio06 (or is that not your name ;o) - yes, actually we have quite a few words that are very similar to German - funny really!!

I bet you are famous in Iceland by now :-) Another great picture.

PS: you should have shot it by the light of that old lamp...!
Posted 16 months ago. ( permalink )
Ragnheidurpro replies:
Hehe - I am not sure that light would have given me enough light though LOL... Famous is not really what I am after, been there done that in a way (being the first Icelandic "girl" to fly a jumbo airplane with her father took care of that part in my life - not sure it is a good thing being famous in a small country like Iceland!!) But hey - these pictures have made many people smile WHICH I love!!!

Clarence the Cross-eyed Lionpro replies:
I recently shot a model by candle light. Can be done, but she wasn't too happy about the dark spots under her eyes caused by the low light source :-)

Your pics def make my smile (or drop my jaw in astonishment) and I'm sure many others too! So that goal is accomplished.

Yes, your friend looks very "Official" :-) It must be the uniform!! So I guess the Amtman was some kind of district administrator?

Anyway - a great character, well captured! :-D

Hehe, fyndið, amtsmenn voru ekki einu sinni til þegar hann fæddist, það sem krökkum dettur í hug, gaman að fá að upplifa þetta svona þó það sé ekki nema undir þessum kringumstæðum.
