I have an unopened package of perceptol. Trying to estabilish how to use it.
Judging from your photo, it looks OK, although not as good as it should be, considering it is supposed to be a fine grain developer. I think it is not any better than Xtol, which I have used for the last year.

IMHO, ultra fine grain developers like Ilford Prceptol or Kodak Microdol-X have become obsolete since there are T-grain films and developers lilke X-TOL. If you are looking for the special look an ultra fine garain developer gives (dense highlites, thin shadows), ok, but for fine grain with rich detail in the lights and the shadows, I would prefer any T-grain film in highly dilluted HC-110 or in X-TOL.

Thank you. I was suspecting that. In fact I like Xtol a lot. Thing is, I have acquired stocks of chemicals I want to use as I don't like waste. Will try all my chemicals anyway, even if Xtol will probably be better. Thanks again.

There is nothing wrong about playing around with different developers, as long as you don't loose a good shot due to an unknown film/dev combos reaction. I will highly recommend Microdol-X at 1+3 for Kodak Tri-X at 400 ASA. This is very nice!
