High hope - Christine Lebrasseur

One of the traditions of the French weddings (and maybe in other countries also) is that the newly-weds leave a handle of balloons inflated with helium at the exit of the church. Attached to every ball, a card with their address and the date of the marriage; they hope that every balloon will be found by strangers wherever in the country (even abroad) and that they will receive from these people some words and wishes of happiness.

L'une des traditions des mariages français (et peut-être d'autres pays aussi) est que les nouveaux mariés lâchent une poignée de ballons gonflés à l'hélium à la sortie de l'église. Attaché à chaque ballon, une carte avec l'adresse des époux et la date du mariage ; ils espèrent que chaque ballon sera recueilli par des inconnus n'importe où dans le pays (voire même à l'étranger) et qu'ils recevront de ces gens quelques mots et vœux de bonheur.
