Keele Hall, North Staffordshire.

Keele Hall, North Staffordshire.
The sun finally came out so we went for a walk around the campus of my old university, about 5 miles from where we live now. This photograph shows the south-east front of Keele Hall. Much of the present Keele Hall was rebuilt between 1855 and 1860, on the site of the original hall, home of the Sneyd family for over 3 centuries.

Love these old Jacobean buildings I visit many through my NT membership but looks like English Heritage maintains this one. Like the upper framing from beneath the tree.

I understand what you mean but Hogwarts (Poudlard) is much grander! When I was a student I think the English Department was located in this building but I don't think any teaching goes on in this building. It is used mainly for functions like weddings, Christmas parties and the like.

Thanks for the latest comments. The house is beautiful inside but nowhere near as grand as the one in Downton Abbey!

In my home town of Rugeley we have alsmhouses etc. such as Sneydlands. I wonder if they are connected to this family? I'll enquire when I speak to my stepmum on Sunday.

Could be. Rugeley and Keele are not that far from each other. Do let me know if you find anything out.
