The Clough - with phone camera !!!

The Clough - with phone camera !!!
I keep thinking of getting a compact camera for when I don't want to walk round with my big DSLR over my shoulder. People have said "Why not just use your phone camera?" Well, this is why not!! Unless you want to say it is an 'artistic' shot.
We drove off in the rain for a quick, but heavy, shop at the local supermarket just half a mile down the road. On the way I had my arm twisted (not that it needed much) to go via Wildboarclough, a total extra 15 miles. This spot is quite popular with The Boss and, seeing the Clough in flood, we stopped for a look It made me annoyed that I hadn't brought my camera (who takes a big camera on a shopping trip?). Ah well, chance to try that phone camera after all. Hmmm !! Can anyone suggest a good compact - shirt pocket size???
I did take this shot earlier in the year and am posting it below in the Comments section.

I've Seen It Asserted that phone cameras are now good enough there's no reason to bother with a separate compact camera. Haven't put it to the test myself, tho--

Well, perhaps in bright sunlight and a following wind they might be OK especially if all you want to do is look at the results on the camera's own screen. For me, though, they are just not flexible enough. I am, though, having trouble in finding a compact that I like at a price I can justify. So many don't have viewfinders and I defy anyone not a body-builder to hold a camera steady at arms length.

Look at the Sony DSC-HX90V. It's tiny, but packed with features including an OEL viewfinder which gives a bright image. I never leave home without mine.

Thank you. I had heard of that Sony when I have been reading around. I seem to be coming down to either that, one of the Panasonic TZ's (60 or 70) or even the Fuji X30. Just have to grit my teeth and accept some poorer IQ in the name of ease of carrying.
