Another Trig Point, another view

This one is at the top of Nab Hill (930 feet above sea level) just north of Bollington in eastern Cheshire near Macclesfield. Triangulation Pillars were used to help the Ordnance Survey surveyors conduct their calculations when producing their excellent maps. They were usually within sight of at least two other points (hence the triangulation bit) and were painted bright white for easier viewing from a distance. Not at all sure when this last received that coat of white - if ever!
In the background are the buildings of eastern Greater Manchester which look as if they are receiving a small shower in the sunlight.
There was a very cold wind blowing at the top here which had swept unhindered across Cheshire from the Welsh mountains well over 60 miles away to the left (not sure just where it had been before them !!) The route up here has only recently been acknowledged as a public way (instead of a local trespass) but it goes only up to this top and back down so it is not part of any circular walk at all.

Dave B has replied to RatRodWhen I came to the end of my secondary school life I did consider going into surveying, in particular I would have liked cartography as maps have always fascinated me - they're like reading a book. Unfortunately, family pressure sent me a different route which I have regretted ever since. I took early retirement and one day wandered into a place which had a computer program to test you and suggest a career. I tried it for fun and guess what came out on top? I left the place feeling quite disheartened.
