Choices! Choices!

Choices! Choices!
An extremely well used crossroads on our local footpaths. You can tell by the sheer wear of the grass just how much it is in action. The finger post does give you quite a choice here. If you take the right-hand direction it says you will head for Public Footpath whereas the left one will lead to Public Footpath. In the direction behind me lies Public Footpath and off into the distance, my route on the day, I will get to Public Footpath! So there we have it. A crossroads in the middle of a field with all roads leading to Public Footpath. Can't get more helpful than that ;-)

This is the Cheshire side of the Dane Valley with the actual river valley off to the right (in the direction of Public Footpath.) The path leads from the side of the Ship Inn, Dane Bridge and off in the direction of Allgreaves, those distant hills. It is not the most frequently used of footpaths these days but just beyond that autumnal tree is a tumulus where it is said Roman artefacts have been found buried - so who knows? This Public Footpath could, in reality, be a long lost Roman Road.
