Banded Demoiselle on River Bollin

Banded Demoiselle on River Bollin
Male Broad-winged Damselfies or Banded Demoiselles (Calopteryx splendens) seen this afternoon on the River Bollin downstream of Macclesfield. I think it was the same one, in fact. It is a male because of its dark wing patches, the female being more greenish (it says in my book!) I had with me only my 18-105mm lens so this has been cropped quite a lot. If weather permits tomorrow afternoon I may try again with a longer lens.

Must head over to the Bollin next year to catch a glimpse of these beauties.

Yes, I have seen them many years but they are not all that common.
