Large-awned Sedge

Large-awned Sedge
Our ferry was delayed eight hours in Juneau due to mechanical problems and we used the time to do some hiking. We hiked the Auke Nu trail and part of the Spaulding trail north of the city. The hikes were not the most inspiring hikes we've been on but it was far better than sitting on the ferry all those hours. These sedges were photographed along the Spaulding trail.

The impromptu hike seems to have paid off as you have managed to create a photo that really strikes a punch. I like the curves that are created by the grass. This is a stylistic compositional piece that really adds to the overall feel of the image, IMO. The muted green background is lovely but I do have a question around the perfectly central placement of the seed heads. For me, the image might feel more balanced if they were placed off centre with the grass leading the eye to them? Just a thought . . .

Seen In My Opinion: as is clear from the many comments above this is an image with instant appeal. Lovely complementary tones and perfect framing. The double loops of grass fronds really makes the image and without those it would be so much less. The little top left hand thing is so easily removed and no doubt you would do that in the final presentation. Simple yet utterly effective
