Upper Palouse Falls

Upper Palouse Falls
Thought I'd post a few more pictures from Palouse Falls State Park. These are the Upper Falls taken from the trail down to them, a trail which continues to the Lower Falls and which can just be seen in the upper right of the picture, a trail that we did not take. The Lower Falls with a drop of 180 feet are just around the corner in this picture.

Василий Касимовский, Gerlinde, Tim Hanko, Larry Drummond and 8 other people have particularly liked this photo

Now that's interesting geomorphology...a left and a right, and the river hasn't been able to make curves out of corners...

The river here swings around a huge basalt outcrop known as the Mohawk. That formation can be seen in this picture, if you're interested.

Thats a funny riverbend, a perfect 90 degree angle around steep walls, almost like a very fast castle moat...... :)
