Where Mount Baker Should Be

Where Mount Baker Should Be
This was taken from Artist's Point early in the morning at about sunrise and should show Mount Baker but Mount Baker never appeared except for one brief moment. This small peak (I don't know if it is even named) is a spur of Mount Baker and if that peak was visible it would fill the whole upper left of the picture. In any case, this was pretty typical of the day with occasional sunlight and breaks int he clouds but mostly cloudy.

What a great snowy view =) Funny how you don't like the work in dealing with snow, yet all the hiking and snowshoeing in the snow is FAR more difficult... LOL! I always got a lot less winded and tired shoveling the snow off my property than hiking around in snow which is exhausting.

Great shot!!

I guess it is a bit inconsistent, but snowshoeing is actually quite easy, easier IMO than hiking.

Ack, a missing mountain.... I know that well.
We miss the whole Alpstein range often recently. It is supposed to sit right across the waterfront, and also to be seen well behind the supermarket when I am walking down main street. No idea where mountains go when they are not visible, perhaps visiting with their cousins? ;)
The pic is still a nice composition. The little peak is likely glad to be noticed for once, without Mount Baker stealing the show...

IMO:
Your shot conveys as sense of COLD and distance. On your blogspot I found wonderful winter landscapes! Glad you do it because It takes, I think, a certain rare dedication to prepare for and go to such spots! Since there are intervening hills, if anything, I would have considered highlighting those few glimpses of what seems to be the down slope of this unnamed peak. Just to create a lead in from the left and a sense of sunshine beyond. And perhaps highlight the near trees as this might help convey the awesome scale of your scene.
