White Out

White Out
This is not a black and white shot. It was taken while on a snowshoeing trip with family members during the holidays. We went part way up to Artist's Point near Mount Baker, but the day was cloudy and snowy and the pictures looked like monochrome images.

It's so beautiful, Ron. Now as you get warmer we're getting colder here.

It is a beautiful image Ron and actually doesn't look too mono the more you look at it. I like the minimalist feel about the image and the high key effect, whether intentional or not, with the snow and sky. A very effective and eye catching image!

IMO:
Ron. There is much to learn from a photo. An arborist might comment on the health and future of this tree. We cannot know what our viewers will find in, and take away from, our images. Ask yourself if the caption is a necessity for reading this shot; can the shot stand alone...can the shot be read... without the caption (captions are so often stripped from photo placement anyway). As a blog illustration this shot becomes part of a story, but can it stand alone? (And the tree, I fear, cannot. Or do you write about the health of our forests?)

Great effect, though, and still a super shot, Ron. It look like the Christmas Tree I'd pick out (and pay way too much for)!
