Lonely

Lonely
Taken on the Columbia Plateau in eastern Washington this photo says more than a lot of words can say about that area: lonely but beautiful, big skies, wide open spaces, green fields (the result of irrigation) but not many people, and far fewer than there used to be. I don't even remember where this was taken, but it could have been taken anywhere in that area of our beautiful state. The color, by the way, is untouched and is just as it came from the camera.

How wonderfully 'free' it must feel to be here, Ron! Alone is not the same as lonely.... to run across that grass...... heaven!

Ron, these are both beautiful shots of this part of the state. They really capture its spare beauty.

thanks for your comment
a pleasure to pay a return visit - I love the deceptive simplicity of this, that low horizon and the lonely house set against a vast sky

Nice shot and colours. What would also be nice in my opinion is to see is a slightly wider angle, closer to the hut to get some distortion in the clouds.

It is great to have you on board within the group In My Opinion and what a great starter for ten this image is! Sometimes we are challenged to put too many elements into a photo to give it enough interest, or impact. You have turned this idea on it's head and suggested something totally different - sometimes less is more! I love the wide swathes of green and blue, I think that cloud detail is great and the position of 'the building' is spot on! As Jenny has said, the low horizon makes this photo a good one. Thanks for posting.

The big sky works to highlight the tiny barn and sense of smallness in a huge universe.I think I would have probably slightly cropped the sky to eliminate the less sharp clouds if that makes sense. For me it evokes the emptiness and aloneness we all face in this big world and the beauty of it all. Nicely done!

Good use of the minimalist approach while still setting real atmosphere. Well shot, good depth of field choice. The sky is really well rendered. Overall a well composed shot that inspires thought. No real faults.
