Maxillaria variablilis

Maxillaria variablilis
This is a small orchid that is found from Mexico through Central America into the northern parts of South America. It is, as the name suggests, variable in flower color and plant form. The large genus, Maxillaria, to which it belongs has now been broken up into a number of different genera, but I am not well enough acquainted with the genus to know if this plant has had its name changed.

It was photographed last year at the Mount Baker Orchid Society Show in Mount Vernon, Washington, and the photo is a bit grainy because it was taken at 1000 ISO in rather difficult lighting and without flash. We'll be away eagle watching this afternoon, so I'll be a bit delayed in returning comments and awards but will catch everyone up when we return later in the day.
