floods ttv

This was the scene of the floods back in March. It's a field on my way to work - alternate route, that is, since my normal route was flooded. The water was probably several feet deep. I thought at the time it was some of the worst floods we've seen in years. I was wrong. Those floods were bad in that region, but they were very localized and only low places along rivers [mainly The Severn] were flooded.

We are now currently experiencing even worse floods all across the country. Worse because many are flash floods due to torrential rainfall that we are just not used to here. Drains in many places have trouble coping. City centers are flooded. River banks have burst. A reservoir in Yorkshire is about to burst its banks. A reservoir! Usually in the summer we have problems with not enough rain... "rain not falling in the right places", they say, and reservoirs running dry. This is the first time I've heard of a reservoir about to burst its banks due to too much rain. It's scary.

Thanks, Bella. Glad you like it. I didn't shop it though... all I did with this was the square cropping.

It's getting better in Yorkshire today, but the problems are just about starting in Worcestershire. I drove through the floods to get home last night. This morning it took me over an hour to get in... and when I eventually did, half the car park was empty with everybody still stuck on the road!

Rain is just no good, I always knew it.
Is that an actual picture from a viewfinder? It's great!

Baron von Beerfest replies:
Yeah, this time they blamed it on the fact that the weather was too good... so too much water evaporated creating torrential rain!
Yes, it's taken through the viewfinder of the Yashica using my little canon. I should do more ttv but my contraption is a bit squashed so I need to make a new one.

Brilliant idea! And isn't the moire just cool?

Baron von Beerfest replies:
Yup, it sure is. Depending on the conditions, sometimes it's a more pronounced effect like it is here, sometimes less. I guess it also depends on where one uploads to, because this is not visible in the version on flickr.
