Hells, no. There's a place in the US called Franconia? Because Franconia in Germany is where I'm from, it's the northern part of Bavaria. :) Looking at that pic I first thought it had been taken in Germany, too.
Yes, Franconia Notch, NH. It is probably the area that NH is greatest known for. The one thing people think of when they think of New Hampshire, is The Old Man in the Mountain which was a rock formation that looked like the profile of an old man. It feel a few years back and NH has lost its identity landmark.
We just got back from Hope,Me. near Camden and went thru Concord,NH and west to Brattleboro,Vt. Absolutely beautiful countryside as you said...we've hiked the Flume,Mt. Washington,Clinton,Eisenhower,Kearsarge North etc. 5-10 years ago...
