Klar, die Seminolen. Hier deuten noch sehr viele Namen auf die ursprunglichen Einwohner Floridas hin. Der Fluss, wo "mein" Pier ist, heisst z.B. Caloosahatchee, und der groesste See Floridas ist der Lake Okeechobee. Everglades ist auch ein indianisches Wort, und bedeutet "Fluss aus Gras". Osceola County ist nach einem beruehmten Seminolen-Haeuptlingssohn benannt.
The are where I am now living (Cohutta, Georgia) is very near the eastern capital of the Cherokee nation, Red Clay, which is the beginning of the Trail of Tears.
During our summers in the Smokies we drive through Cherokee in NC quite often. I don't quite like how the town changed, with the huge casino now smack in the middle of it. But over all it looks nicer and much cleaner now, compared to about 15 years ago.
And yes, just the mentioning of the Trail of Tears gives me goosebumps ...
