This man was selling jasmin at the flower market which is located in the chawk of Varanasi (Benaras).
The expressions he had and his turban made me think that he was coming from a Renaissance painting.
It was a few days ago in the end of an afternoon and the light was providing a combination of brightness and "ping" (brilliance and resonance) with warmth and depth.
I decided to give emphasis to this chiaroscuro (clair-obscur) and to use extreme contrasts of light and shade in this portrait.
