The duty free shops at the airport are a bit ironic. To my knowledge Dubai isn't charging sales tax on goods regardless of whether you buy them inside or outside the airport.

There is always a new mega-project to see every time I was there but also it gets more congested, the air gets dirtier and the services more expensive.
