Japanese Gardens, Toowoomba


I've been having some troubles with my 210mm Rodenstock lens so I took it apart and reassembled it today. Found an issue with the way it was mounted on its lens-board and I think I have fixed it. So we went off to the Japanese Gardens to test it out.

That's Nikhi on the bridge.

1/2 sec, f/64
Fuji Neopan Acros 100 quickload
Rodinal 1+50, 13.5 min at 20ºC. Presoak of about 2 minutes in water.

It looks so idyllic...I always imagine that taking apart and reassembling a lens is tricky. Was it?

The gardens are gorgeous. Whichever way you look everything is balanced and perfect.

The lens did not take much work. I only had to disassemble the rear and front elements from the shutter then remove an offending screw, which was meant for use with a differnt type of lens board, then put it back together again. LF lenses are made to be taken apart.

I am a little disappointed with the way this image looks on ipernity. for some reason it looks flat when i upload it, but looks great as a tif file on my monitor.

I put less and less stock in how images look on websites...I've noticed that even files that initially look okay here sometimes get degraded. I suspect they have compressors/utilities running to maximize their servers.

On a related note, I find myself looking more and more at photo books and magazines instead of online...it's such a nice experience.
