storks in flight? i haven't seen chinese lanterns in a garden since childhood. nice view!

Guarrenzino replies:
We do have a few storks nesting here, but these are cranes flying south for the winter.
If you like chinese lanterns, just buy a packet of seeds and you´ll have them forever.

we have herons. i've never seen a flock of them tho. garden volunteers can be a blessing or a curse!

Guarrenzino replies:
Funny you should mention herons. A few years ago we didn`t have herons here, but in summer they fly past my window all the time.. I´ve never ever seen a flock of herons.
Chinese lanterns aren´t that bad, they don´t spread like weeds, but they do have deep roots and those lovely orange seedpods (or whatever), late in the year ,makes up for the insignifigent white flowers.

Josie Soho®pro replies:
herons are my favorite birds, i have to pause when they go by.

what's the sun requirement for chinese lanterns?
Posted 11 months ago. ( permalink )
Guarrenzino replies:
Herons, hmm, they are really noticable as they flap by. I´m on the 3rd floor here, just the right height to watch them.

I didn`t know much about growing chinese lanterns, except that its easy;) I probably followed the instructions on the packet ;) ). I´ve read this and now I know more.....

The starving wanna be photographer beavering away in his draughty garret? It´s not quite like that but this room is, sloping walls, bare boards and a Scandinavian stove for heating. It´s icy at the moment because I haven`t lit the stove as i won´t be here this evening..

It´s good up here for heron spotting of course;-)

definitely! it follows the Golder Ratio or Golden Rule in more than one way and offers a good division of planes with the principal colours!
Posted 11 months ago. ( permalink )
Guarrenzino says:
Well, I did go for the golden ratio, then played the rest by ear.. I´m still a beginner. :-)

Lodchjo (the vampire)pro replies:
beginner or not, your eyes are excellent!! i'm not professional either!
the birds are excellent details and on the right of the bird - i don't know if you noticed - even the crack in the glass looks like a bird! (a kind of pigeon, like the peace bird). and of course, the inside-outside play is a good trick, which gives that "something extra" to the photo.

Guarrenzino replies:
Thanks Lodchjo ~beaming smile~ ( I didn´t notice the peace dove shape on the right, but don´t tell anyone.. It´s just between us ;-) )
