This is not the best picture I have ever taken, but I do love these little birds. This one posed for me and, unusually, it was very close, without any shyness. The nuthatches constitute a genus, Sitta, of small passerine birds belonging to the family Sittidae. Characterised by large heads, short tails, and powerful bills and feet, nuthatches advertise their territory using loud, simple songs.

Thank you Roy. There was a pair, who had no fear of humans. I have been watching them on the roof were I am working and they have tried to be busy burying acorns, of which there are plenty this year.
