A camera of 12 Mpx from 2007 with 51 points of focus is quite similar to a 6Mpx from 2005 with 9
for sure ;-)

but images will be similar with the post processing

i'll tell you what i sometimes think.
i sometimes wonder, why my photos aren't like those, the best. you know. i try to excuse myself, i haven't got fisheye... only one lens... BUT look at all people who take great shots with point&shots, or old film cameras...phone cameras.... then i feel ashamed, i have DSLR and my works are such a crap....

what do you think??

The main differences are

1. I'm just beginning with photo (it's not modest, i know, but i really hope to make better shots in 20 years !... logical no ?)

2. I'm not famous

3. eye + light are the most important then come the framing, the rest (camera included) are shitty
and i have to work with both, and learn, more and more and more, i'm just a newbie !!
(and not even sure about this)

4. it depend of your sensibility ! and what you want to do with your camera !

my ""little"" D70 (shitty compared to many much better, but better itself than many others....)
offer me some possibilities, and i'd like to have more possibilities and more precises ones.
what offer me the D300 (for exemple) when i discovered it (very little) today.

I know camera is not the most important point for a photographer, but..... it helps
otherwise, Plisson wouldn't own a EOS 5D, but a point and shoot ;-)

Even if i give you some arguments here to ""defend"" my will to buy this camera
i've completly understood the message you want to tell me.

please ! follow your own "advice" sell your DSLR and buy an analogic camera ;-)))

i'll end by tell you

I want a D300 because of
better printing (12 Mpx are better than 6Mpx) size
the quality in details are better
much more precise with autofocus
and i'm thinking about another camera to be honest, because i've heard about the Fuji S5 Pro which have (i've heard) a better white balance
and last thing, i have 40 films i can't print because of high prices !!
40x36 !!!! can't afford it, so ... prefer digital camera :))

i understand what you said, and it's definitely true. i agree with all you said about d300 advantages, i don't try to convince you not to buying it. i just wanted to show you it's not the most important thing. but you already know it. good.
