New Livingroom.

New Livingroom.
Recently, I visited a very old friend in Toronto, to see her new penthouse apartment.

She has been a major art & artifact collector for many decades.

She was one of the first to invade China buying wisely in the early 70's.

Previously, she had lived in an apartment in the exclusive - "Sutton Place Hotel", for 30 years.

The new owners decided to make a major renovation to the hotel, adding 27 more floors...(there were already 33).

Having been a long term resident, and a very successful female entrepreneur, Dianne dug in her heels and refused to move.

She lived two more years, putting up with the dangers of a single woman living in an almost an empty building, as she negotiated with the new owners for a payout.

She was very, very successful, and then - lucked into this 70's Penthouse that is much larger and positioned on the top of a ridge overlooking downtown Toronto, and fantastic view of the lake, and Toronto islands...plus - getting both sunrise and sunsets. (large balconies at either end of her new apartment).

I was so thrilled to see this remarkable 74 year old woman victorious.

Being Scottish, she is tough as nails where money is concerned and prefers to pay rent rather than invest millions for the similar condo accommodation.

The 'ironic' cherry on top is that it is less rent than the previous address.

Plants potted in blue and white fishbowls: Chinese Fan Palm (Livistona Chinensis). Good choice, but I'm sure they have to be wintered indoors. I also like the head of Guanyin (Kwan Yin) - the Chinese version of the Boddhisattva of Compassion: Avalokiteshvara (or as some call her: "the female Buddha.")
