Manhole cover

Manhole cover
It's a beaut! About 16" diameter.

A little cousin in Florence, Italy, a place where beauty is everywhere. Very small, about 10"x8"...

That actually quite lovely - as manhole cover go! A beautifully sharp and detailed shot Diane.

Check out these Japanese ones for style: www.google.com/search?q=japanese+man+hole+covers&client=firefox-b&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjLgcWH-LfbAhVjOMAKHZ3aA5UQsAQIKA&biw=1745&bih=902

That's a great link, thank you, Keith! I saw beautiful street lamps, too, many different designs based on lanterns and you feel like you'e discovering something new at every turn. Yes, this one is unusual and it's strange that it's in an out of the way place.

Quite a bit of it downtown, not as much in the suburbs.

A little known fact: Jeremy Corbyn, our beloved Party Chairman-In-Waiting, collects these.

Oh, really! Interesting and kind of fun. If I was a collector of something, it would not weigh 50 pounds. ;-o

Indeed. You would need a (non-socialistic) palatial style residence to store them, and as for displaying them ... !
I have to say though that the design has been carefully worked out, the calligrapy and artwork is excellent and the overall effect is very pleasing.
But I don't think I want to start collecting them!

I have no palatial residence, non-socialistic or otherwise. I agree, most pleasing, and I've never seen another one like it in town. I should look down more often.

I've been inspired by that collection idea. I'm going to start with emeralds. Light, easier to ship and display, can be bought on eBay!

Yes, it's a great design, but I haven't found anymore like it (so far). Thank you, stoker!
