Great horned owl

Great horned owl
An owl family in the back yard. This is mother or father and there was one big baby that we could see on the branch of another tree.

Another excellent portrait. It is making sure you don't molest its baby, I suppose.

I assumed so. I didn't make any movements toward the baby's branch!

The parent watching over the chick?

Diane Putnam club has replied to Gudrun club
Yes, and looking quite intimidating! Both parents babysit, so I don't know whether this was the mother or father. Thank you, Gudrun.

I'm always fascinated how wide those owls are able to turn their heads! Would be very practically, especially while driving a car ;-)

With my stiff and achy old neck, I wish I had an owl's neck! It's amazing how far they can turn their heads around. Thank you, poly!
