Old aqueduct, Henley, Oregon

Old aqueduct, Henley, Oregon
Now being torn down before it falls down. It's been leaking like a waterfall in some places. Don't know when it was built, but it was old when I was growing up here in the 1950s.

MAPS shows the use of this older construction - guiding H2O to the fields.

Yes, it's interesting. The irrigation system here is huge! Thank you, Rapi.

Yes, though it's an awfully ugly construction. Very ...what's that called..."Brutalist." I think it was probably too old and leaky to save.

The loss of a great landmark.............quite sad really. Will it be replaced with a new one or is it no longer needed.

I don't know what the plan is. It's actually quite a short section of an earthen canal. I guess it was necessary to carry water up and over the Lost River that it had to cross. You can see it on the map.

Is that the C-canal? www.ipernity.com/doc/donbrr/36509192

Would be good if they could find some way to preserve at least some of the history.

Yes, that's it. It was interesting to read the history you included in your photo. The Klamath Reclamation project was enormous and it rearranged the whole Klamath Basin for better and worse.
