Cloud variety

Cloud variety
Mammatus (I think) upper left, cumulonimbus below those (the mushroom shape), other cumulus and a lot of altostratus and stratocumulus throughout. Other more specific features, but I'm not sure what they're called. The naming hierarchy of clouds is complicated and I wish I knew a lot more.

Rol/photo, Michael, Gudrun, Tanja - Loughcrew and 7 other people have particularly liked this photo

You should have been in the Scouts, they teach this stuff. This may be of some help, not to comprehensive. www.chemtrailplanet.com/Clouds.htm

I learned the basic names in school, but there are many signifiers within each type I didn't learn. I just looked at a few of those charts and they are helpful and interesting - thanks, David. The site also presents a lot of conspiracy theories ("chemtrails," the climate change "scam," etc.) Oh, did you know that certain clouds appear on "heavy spray days?" Anyway, it's kind of entertaining. ;-o

I wish there was a local course on clouds without getting too involved with all of meteorology!

Yes sorry about the chem trail bits, but other than that I thought it would be interesting. :)
