Kiger Baseball Stadium

Kiger Baseball Stadium
Built 1947 and still in use by the local baseball team, the Gems. My father played baseball here in the late 1940s. Scroll down on this page to see interior shots: www.aplussportsandmore-fanshop-baseballfield.com/Current-Wooden-Baseball-Parks.html

Same Kiger as Kiger Gorge on Steens Mountain?

I don't know! I've never heard of Kiger Gorge! Now you've got me curious...

Hm, I see Oregon has a lot of things named Kiger - road, island and most surprising, a Kiger horse. "...a strain of Mustang horse located in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Oregon. Originally feral horses with specific conformation traits discovered in 1977..."

So, 45 min. later and I come up with nothing except: the stadium, the horse, the gorge, etc. Variant of German name Geiger. There was an early settler in Benton Co. named Kiger. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kiger_Island. Nothing adds up to why the stadium and the horse are named Kiger.
