Church of Our Lady of St. Mary of Zion in Axum

This is a very modern building. We couldn't visit the interior due to major building work. Behind this is an older church which houses the original Arc of the Covenant. It is kept behind curtains and only one priest is allowed to see it. A replica is paraded through the streets on religious festivals. Only men are allowed in the church, so I declined to leave Belinda behind.
