S is for sssssssnake
One weekend I was so lazy that I had to persuade myself to go out. A stroke of luck because I found this grass snake directly in a small bush by the wayside, which passes on a lake.
I looked at her, she looked back.
I crept up and the snake was watching me on.
I could take some pictures before she decided to dive into the water.
I've never seen such a large grass snake in the wild. This one was certainly one meter long. I was so pleased and thought about how old it may be already and that you would have to protect these animals a lot better.

By the way...this snake somehow reminds me of a rattlesnake...well, one time Steve and I were on a hike and we came up to some people who were huddled together and staring down the trail. "There's a rattlesnake on the trail!" So Steve took his tripod and approached very slowly, and was able to hook the snake on the end of the tripod and fling it off the trail. He didn't realize he was flinging it so hard, because it flew about 50 feet through the air...and then about 100 feet down to the bottom of the canyon. We have no idea if it survived the fall but we hope so. I will never forget seeing that snake flyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy....what a sight, its whole body was swimming through the air as it flew away and then down into the canyon.
