Dinky on Ullswater

Dinky on Ullswater
Found this after realising that I had not got a single snap of the lake here on Ipernity. I do not get to see our Lake District as often as I would like nowadays and so here is one taken a few years back on Ullswater as we walked along its shores. Fairly sure I am looking southwest towards Glenridding.
Ullswater is a glacial lake and is the second largest lake in the region by both area and volume, after Windermere. It is about 7 miles long, ¾ miles wide, and has a maximum depth of 206 feet.

Enjoy full screen.

Corinne Queme, Frans Schols, Frank J Casella, Boarischa Krautmo and 25 other people have particularly liked this photo

Dinky toys were loved by our children from 1934-1979. Made of cast iron, they never broke. I don't know a program. Maybe you can enlighten me!

Ha, ha.............when I first saw your title I assumed you'd misspelled the word "dinghy", until I viewed large and read the name of the boat. I should have known better :-))

Anyway, you've composed this very well Herb with the boat making a super anchor point and the peaks in the background making a majestic backdrop. Great light too and some lovely clouds.

The Dinky (or Dinghy) is quite rightly the star of the show........beautifully captured sir!

I can understand where you are coming from Keith. You know by now that my compositions are of primary concern to me so I am happy t read your words here. This would have been one of my first HDR attempts as I see the three headed blades of grass here, not seen in my first edit all those years back. Ah well! I think without the HDR the shadows would have never been saved.

Good that you have come to my rescue with that info Gordon. Almost sure it was from near the Aire Force NT car-park. As we had def parked there after calling at the waterfalls. Glad you liked it.

Looks lovely . As mentioned above it’s from the shore at Aira Point. There is a steamer pier there now so it’s possible to take a short trip from Glenridding to the Falls

Very glad that you have confirmed spot Colin. I was not really certain. I think they were building that pier then? We did visit the falls too and I have photos somewhere.
