Inversnaid Falls

Inversnaid Falls
At the side of the Inversnaid Hotel here on the shores of Loch Lomond sits this most impressive waterfall which is in two parts.
The piers, also in front of the hotel allows the ferry and pleasure boats to bring in sightseers to picnic at the foot of these falls as well as taking refreshments or rooms in the splendid hotel where we took coffee and creamed scones. From here one can take the steep road into the mountains and along Loch Arklet to Loch Katrine and also the resort of Aberfoyle. See PiPs

Enjoy full size.

No my tripod was still in car some distance away, so no long exposure silkness here. Glad you liked it.

Wow, that's a very dramatic waterfall Herb, and beautifully captured! I came across a small one that I may upload tomorrow, but I didn't have a tripod with me either. I have a lot to learn about capturing falling water! Superb pictures!!!
Happy Thursday. Cheers, Rosa.

Great that you enjoyed this my friend. I have found that the best shutter speed for waterfalls is about 1/5th-1/10th of a second. Slower creates a more artificial scene (but can still look very nice indeed) and just a bit faster gives it a half cooked look. I do have a small lightweight tripod too but on this day and place I had forsaken all. I look forward to seeing yours.

Keep cool - an end to this heatwave now in sight! Herb

Yes a very popular hotel normally but very quite as we ventured in, still in semi-lockdown.

I bet this is refreshing remembering the temp of the streams in England, I do like the fact you did not use the ND filter to stop the water but let it flow and the wind blow. my kind of shot.

That's how water(falls) should look like.
I mean, It shouldn't look like milk-falls or like glue-falls - as a result of too low speed.
