Sheep roundup at Clifden Castle

Sheep roundup at Clifden Castle
We see here the back of this ruined castle which is in reality an old ruined Manor House.

See Pip for classic view.

Very nicely done here Herb. A great capture of the action of the dogs controlling? the sheep, the peace and tranquility of the rural scene, complete with the wonderful backdrop of the castle.

All the best, Doug

Thanks a lot Doug. Very happy you find this interesting. You posted this before I posted the PiP and so I hope you see that too now.

A lovely scene there Herb.. with plenty going on - and the house ruin as a backdrop .. plus the sheep action... I would have been tempted to watch that for a while..
Cheers from Dave..

You say and see it all David. We only wanted to see where the path led to and what the back of this castle was like when we stumbled over the sheep farmer and his dogs doing what they do best. Like you, we did stay and watch for a while. We say them bringing in the sheep from two fields away initially to this corner.

You know Steve, if we didn't go out and explore -especially on foot, we would never witness such interesting sights. Thanks for your interest too.

An interesting old ruin and a good capture of the dogs working the sheep.

It was very interesting indeed George. We are very lucky in the British Isles to have this sort of history around an awful lot of corners. Your sheep-farmers round their sheep up from helicopters etc :)

Oh, I went to read the history of the castle, it's not really old as I thought, it's a copy and they left it ruin. A pity. A beautiful view anyway, and I love the sheeps. Cheers,Dany

Thanks Dany. Yes, there are quite a few follies (copies) around Britain too. They still look nice on the landscapes I think. Good that you share our own views of these passive gentle animals.

One man and his dog(s)..!!

A well observed and well taken shot Herb............the interaction between the dogs, the sheep and the shepherd is wonderful. I love the sheep trying to do a runner.............

The ruined castle...........copy or not........makes a majestic backdrop!

Thank you Keith. As always your observations are both pleasing and amusing. I must admit that both my wife and I love to see sheep, especially with their interaction with these sheep work-dogs. As you say, the castle does make a splendid backdrop.
